There are many things that you can do to prevent water pollution. Don't through paints, oils, or other forms of litter down the drain. Limit the use of pesticides and fertilizers to prevent runoffs into nearby water sources. Recycle used motor oil. Lastly, don't throw litter into rivers, lakes, or oceans.
Places with higher poverty rates typically have worse environmental issues. Poverty deprives people of necessities such as safe drinking water. Today, 783 million people do not have access to clean water and 2.5 billion people do not have proper sanitation facilities. Without the money for sanitation facilities or any access to water filters, the water stays polluted and unable to be consumed safely.
Industrial waste contains toxic compounds that are dangerous to aquatic animals. Pollutants from sewage can result in disease that can potentially infect aquatic life and terrestrial life through drinking water. Water pollution could cost the government money through purification treatment costs, inspection, and clean up costs.
Water in rivers, lakes and oceans are becoming polluted. Water pollution can be caused by many things. Oil pollution, industrial waste, radioactive waste, sewage ad wastewater, marine dumping, and global warming are just some issues that contribute to water pollution.
